FAQ
Yeah, we are still working on this.
How does the rating calculate?
We rate cafes across 4 categories, each scored from 1 to 5: coffee, snacks, atmosphere, and service. The final rating is the sum of these four scores, ranging from a minimum of 4 to a maximum of 20.
What is a good rating?
All places with a rating of 11.5 and above are decent. But there are outliers which have an amazingly quirky atmosphere and excellent coffee, but crappy food and service. So we recommend looking at the individual category scores as well to get a better sense of what to expect.
So what does it mean if a category is rated 3?
3 is right in the middle of our rating 1-5 which makes a coffee rated 3 a decent one. It is not great (4) or out of this world (5). Just a good cup of coffee. Anything below is 3 we consider Meh (2) or No Good (1).
Can I recommend a cafe to be added?
Yes! Please use our cafe recommendation form to let us know about great cafes that we haven't rated yet.
Why do you do this?
We love coffee and cafes. And many times we forgot about some of the great places we have been to. So we built DripRaters to keep track of our favorite and not so cafes. And then, because Internets, we decided that we might as well share them.
